Tips for Thanksgiving at Disneyland

November 21st, 2017

Thanksgiving is a cherished traditional holiday in the United States, bringing many families together. However, going to Disneyland may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Thanksgiving Day. Still, deciding to spend Thanksgiving at Disneyland may just prove to be an excellent idea for a unique experience for your family. Here is a brief review of what you can expect.

There is erroneous misconception that Thanksgiving at Disneyland doesn’t attract big crowds as everyone is only interested in having good times with their families at home. Yet, the park here is typically busy throughout the whole week of this celebration, including on Thanksgiving Day. Generally speaking, the week before Thanksgiving up to the weekend that follows is one of the most hectic periods of the year at this theme park. With the return of the Believe in Magic fireworks show, along with other events, Thanksgiving Day is bound to be exhilarating at Disneyland.

There are many things you could do on Thanksgiving at Disneyland this year. To begin with, you may wish to visit the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel to enjoy the resident pianist’s performance of Christmas tunes. In the upstairs alcoves you can relax by the fireplace and spend quality time with your family. On the other hand, you may like to witness the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln show and listen to the profound wisdom of this great historic president.

There are numerous restaurants to be found in Disneyland, Disney Adventure, and the rest of the Disneyland Resort, many of which will be offering special Thanksgiving dinner menus. For the most part, these will include variations of classic Thanksgiving dishes such as turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry dressing to name but a few. At the same time, there are two unique Thanksgiving at Disneyland dining experiences you may wish to consider. One of these is the Harvest Buffet which is hosted in the Grand Ballroom of the famous Disneyland Hotel. Another is the Wine Country Feast, held at Napa Rose in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. For those on a tight budget, there are a number of low cost restaurants in Disneyland, including the Plaza Inn and the Carnation Café, both of which are expected to offer basic Thanksgiving menus like slow roasted turkey.

Tom Bricker has put together an excellent article listing several tips for visiting Disneyland at Thanksgiving. The full article can be found on the Disney Tourist Blog here: http://www.disneytouristblog.com/thanksgiving-disneyland-dinner-tips/.
