Senior management team
Stephen E. Olson
Chairman & CEO
Drawing on over 20 years of experience in real estate finance and development,
Mr. Olson has spearheaded The Olson Company's vision and strategy since its
inception. In addition to being named America's Builder of the Year in 2000 by
Professional Builder Magazine and Distinguished Alumni of the Year by
Pepperdine University, Mr. Olson's contributions to community development and
improvement have also been honored by a host of California state and city
agencies.
Prior to founding The Olson Company, Mr. Olson held posts as Vice President at
Dean Witter and Company, President and Chief Executive Office of Signet
Scientific Company, and founded a publicly traded manufactured housing company.
Having received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Redlands and his
MBA from Pepperdine University, Mr. Olson also completed postgraduate studies
in finance at Claremont Graduate School.
In addition to working to improve housing opportunities, restore downtown
neighborhoods and promote transit-friendly living, Mr. Olson is a dedicated
member of the corporate community. He currently serves on several Boards of
Directors, including those of First Consulting Group, First Bank of Beverly
Hills, Aquarium of the Pacific, Flowline, Inc., "C" Enterprises, King's Seafood
Company, Pepperdine University, and the Pepperdine School of Public Policy.
Scott Laurie
President and COO
Scott Laurie is President and COO of Olson Homes. In this capacity he oversees all homebuilding operations for the Regional Divisions in Northern and Southern California.
Mr. Laurie was previously with KB Home for 9 years holding various management positions during his tenure. These positions include Manager of Asset Management and Acquisition at KB Home Corporate, Vice President of Land Acquisition and Development at the Greater Los Angeles Division, Executive Vice President of the Inland Valley Division and President of the Inland Valley Division.
Prior to joining KB Home, Mr. Laurie worked for a Southern California builder in Land Acquisition and Planning.
Mr. Laurie earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California, Urban Planning and Development in 1996.
Mario A. Urzua
Senior Vice President, Finance
Mr. Urzua is responsible for managing relationships
with our bank group and raising project level debt and equity. Prior to joining DenCity, Inc. in 2004, Mr. Urzua was
the Chief Financial Officer for GreenPark Group, a Warburg Pincus venture. Prior to joining GreenPark, he spent
three years with Colony Capital, Inc/Colony Advisors, Inc., where he was responsible for the financial reporting for
two private equity real estate partnerships with net assets in excess of $1.6 billion. He also spent three years with
Coopers & Lybrand, LLP, where he was a senior associate providing professional services to a number of clients in
various industries. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and is a Certified
Public Accountant.
William E. Holford
President, Olson Communities
Mr. Holford is responsible for directing the
operations of Olson Communities along with managing corporate branding, marketing, promotions and sales efforts.
Mr. Holford began his professional career in the airline industry in sales and marketing management working for
American, Continental and Long Beach-based Jet America Airlines. Mr. Holford joined The Walt Disney Company
in 1989, directing the sales and marketing program for The Walt Disney Company’s West Coast attractions,
including Disneyland Theme Park and Resort. In 1993, he was appointed Director of Sales & Marketing for Disney
Sports Enterprises’ newly created sports franchise, The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. In 1996, Disney acquired the
Anaheim Angels Baseball Club with Mr. Holford overseeing the re-branding of the team and newly remodeled
Edison Field Ball Park. During his 10-year career with The Walt Disney Company, Mr. Holford was a recipient of
the Advertising Age Magazine “Marketing 100” Award for marketing excellence. Prior to joining DenCity, Inc.,
Mr. Holford served as a Director of Marketing for Rusty International, a global company specializing in the action
sports industry. Mr. Holford attended California State University, Long Beach and has served on the Board of
Directors of Southern California Special Olympics.
Todd J. Olson
President, Olson Community Development
Mr. Olson heads the land acquisition, forward planning and entitlement activities for DenCity, Inc.,
working with over 63 California cities and agencies. Mr. Olson has over 10 years of experience
with DenCity, Inc. Prior to joining DenCity, Inc., Mr. Olson served as marketing executive with “C” Enterprises,
providing computer solutions nationally to public institutions. Mr. Olson received his Bachelor’s degree in
business administration from the Entrepreneurial School at the University of Southern California.
