Old Towne Orange

January 25th, 2018

Old Towne Orange has lately become a favorite spot for many people who are looking for a place to enjoy their day with an eclectic array of modern shops in a traditional setting. Old Towne Orange has been voted repeatedly as a favorite downtown destination within Orange County. Its streets are lined with art galleries, antique and collectible shops, restaurants and other specialty shops. Other notable features here include public fountains, secret gardens and old California-style designed buildings. The central plaza park has been a common gathering place for the residents of the city of Orange as well as tourists to the area for more than a century.

In the last several years, Old Towne Orange has attracted unique restaurant concepts from hand-crafted Mexican cuisine served at Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen to delicious waffle and chicken sandwiches served at Bruxie. If you’re a barbeque person, check out Smoqued California Barbeque on Glassell Street and you won’t be disappointed. The great aroma says it all and will delight the senses when your BBQ platters come filled with deviled eggs, smoked meats, homestyle mac and cheese, and brown sugar bacon. These restaurants and others have helped to turn Old Towne Orange into a premier dining destination.

If you enjoy antiquing, there are lots of vintage shops located in Old Towne Orange. You will be sure to find a variety of unique treasures that you can add to your own collection. In addition to all of the many eclectic variety of shops in town, you can also visit the Old Towne Orange Flea Market. This takes place every second Saturday of each month.

Saturdays also feature the Orange Home Grown Farmers and Artisans Market. Here you can buy local organic foods, discover many interesting unique products, and also enjoy live music performed by local artists. On the 3rd Saturday of the month, additional activities are available for kids, and various cooking demonstrations are provided by Orange area culinary enthusiasts.

However, there is so much more that has put Old Towne Orange on the map such as the International Street Fair that is celebrated on Labor Day weekend and car shows which are held regularly. One of the biggest gems of this community is the great collection of historic homes that are located around the city center. You’ll find many styles imaginable, from Victorian, indigenous Craftsman bungalow, to French Country and everything else in between.
