Patriot Day Ceremony in Monterey Park

September 6th, 2016

Fifteen years ago, we as a nation suffered a great loss. As the twin towers fell in New York City, hearts across the country, indeed all over the world, were shattered, and many suffered an even more personal loss as loved ones were suddenly torn from their lives. Join with the City of Monterey Park this Sunday in memorial of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

The ceremony will be held in front of City Hall, by the veterans and war memorials, on Sunday morning at 8:30, and will feature the national anthem, guest speakers, and members of the American Legion Post 397. A moment of silence will be observed after the ringing of the bell to honor those who were lost.
This ceremony and others like it are so important because they form strong bonds, as citizens gather together in solidarity to recover from tragedy and memorialize those who were lost. This ceremony truly shows the warmth and love that is at the very heart of Monterey Park.

The city of Monterey Park is a caring community of close-knit neighbors that you can always count on to be there when times get tough. When tragedy strikes, having a strong community to fall back on and mourn with provides not only comfort, but a sense of security as well. The long, rich history of Monterey Park provides a firm foundation on which the city’s culture of hospitality is built.
