Learn about the History of Southern California

The Heritage Square Museum allows visitors to learn more about the history of Southern California life in the early 20th century. This museum consists of eight historic structures that were constructed near the close of 19th century. The Heritage Square Museum has become a very popular tourist attraction due to its unique story about the first 100 years of California statehood. The museum was saved from demolition and now serves as one of the best places to educate visitors about the everyday lives that the people of Southern California lived in the early 1900’s.

Each building on the museum grounds provides a glimpse of how Southern Californians lived in this era, and those who tour the site will see some of the items that were in use at that time such as furniture, wallpaper and appliances. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the architecture and culture that dates back to the Victorian Era.

The guided tours around the museum provide guests the opportunity to experience living history performances, hands-on training, exhibitions, educational programs and special events. Public tours are allowed on the first levels of the museum’s buildings. Visitors can schedule a private tour if they wish to visit the upper levels of the buildings.

The Heritage Square Museum is located at 3800 Homer St. in northeast Los Angeles. The museum is open 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
