Outdoor Spaces Designed Around You

How Research Shaped the Community Spaces at Heritage Walk

When you picture your ideal neighborhood, what do you see? Maybe it’s a shaded spot to unwind after a long week, a place where kids can play while you catch up with a neighbor, or a quiet corner to curl up with a good book under the open sky. At Heritage Walk, those aren’t just wishful details. They’re intentional design decisions rooted in real data about how people want to live.

In partnership with the New Home Trends Institute, Olson Homes analyzed extensive survey research on how homeowners actually use community spaces before a single amenity was finalized at Heritage Walk. The findings were clear: picnic areas ranked as the top preferred use of small green spaces, with 45% of homeowners identifying them as a best use, followed closely by community gardens at 40%. Lawn games, hammocks, and gathering areas with thoughtful landscaping rounded out the list of what buyers said they value most.

Olson took that research seriously. The result is three distinct community spaces at Heritage Walk, each designed with a specific experience in mind.

The Grove is the neighborhood’s central gathering place, anchored by one of Heritage Walk’s beautifully preserved oak trees. A shade structure with tables and seating creates the perfect setting for everything from casual weekday lunches to weekend get-togethers. Challenge a neighbor to cornhole or simply pull up a chair and enjoy the company. The Grove is designed for the moments that make a neighborhood feel like home.

The Post is Heritage Walk’s neighborhood hub, the kind of spot you pass through every day and always find a reason to stop. Pick up your mail, browse the little free library, and settle into an Adirondack chair with a good book under the shade of a Chinese Elm. It’s a simple concept with a big impact, turning an everyday errand into a moment worth savoring.

The Hideaway lives up to its name. Tucked away from the busier areas of the community, this peaceful space centers around another of Heritage Walk’s majestic preserved oak trees, surrounded by Adirondack chairs and a hammock perfect for reading, relaxing, or just taking a breath. And for the little ones, a tot lot is nestled in the back, giving kids their own space to play while parents unwind nearby.

Together, these three spaces reflect something that sets Heritage Walk apart: the belief that a great neighborhood is about more than what’s inside the four walls of your home. It’s about what happens outside your front door, in the moments between the everyday, when community actually forms.

Every shade structure, every Adirondack chair, and every gathering space was designed because the research said it would matter to you. That’s the Heritage Walk difference.

Heritage Walk is coming soon to Glendora. Stay tuned for more details on this thoughtfully designed new community.
